Hello, my fellow stationery lovers. We are officially kicking off on the 5th of April 2024!
There were no countdowns nor heart-racing drumrolls, simply because I couldn't decide on an actual date. I wanted this to start operating way before Easter, but the packaging to pack the goods didn't arrive, so I had to wait. Then the babysitting gig escalated to the next level with the school holidays, and there were other reasons that have put a pause on this operation, but today is the day I will start this. (Oh yeah, we've also had a visit to the ED this morning.)
It's also the 'National Arbor Day' in Korea on the 5th of April, a day to plant a tree. It used to be a public holiday, so it held significance, but it doesn't seem to be a public holiday anymore, for some reason. Anyways, I will celebrate this day by adding a tree sticker to my inventory. The Kossie.
I have dreams to expand my sticker business to other stationery goods and perhaps fabric and beyond wherever the limitations are!
The reason to start this store was to fulfill my dream of selling my creations. Being an architect, a designed building can be my creation and a baby, but it never is fully my design as it is a team effort. I wanted to make something very personal, yet relatable goods for others who may find them pleasing.
Why study architecture and dream of opening a stationery store, you may ask? I believe I have always had an eye for design, and back in the days (haha), I was made to believe that art alone cannot support me financially in the future, so I had to pick a degree and pursue that career. Naturally, I chose architecture. The perfect middle ground of art and engineering, both of which I enjoyed very much. Architecture also seemed like a career that would always allow one to travel, seeing and experiencing other parts of the world. However, being in the workforce soon made me realise the latter part was just a hopeful dream. Mind you, the architecture industry is filled with colleagues who are delightful to work with. They are positive, interesting, sharp-minded, and fashionable people, which makes up a great working environment to be in (having said that, there are odd-balls, of course).
More on this later, today, I am celebrating the fact that I've done something publicly and, as the internet does not allow you to forget, this is it.
